BILLY PORTER GOES GRUNGE IN GUCCI TASSEL-LADEN MARMONT BOOTIES AT THE 5TH ANNUAL MAYOR'S GLOBAL BLACK PRIDE RECEPTION IN ATLANTA

Billy Porter graced the red carpet at the 5th Annual Mayor's Global Black Pride Reception at Atlanta City Hall yesterday in Georgia. Porter spoke during the event alongside Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens.

Serving up style, the "Pose" star donned a pair of unique black boots hailing from Gucci. The Marmont style was calf-length and featured tassel detailing on the toes that offered a textural quality, lush glossy black leather uppers, almond-shaped toes, zipper closures with gold hardware and coordinating gold monogrammed Gucci fastened to the sides just above the tassel-laden toes.

Platform soles and 3 to 4-inch block heels finished off the set, offering Porter a boost. The footwear pick was all about length and height, drawing the eye in while offering the illusion of length. Beyond boots, Gucci's Marmont line also includes sandals, pumps, mules, ankle-length booties and even bags all including that unique tassel detail that sets the style apart from the Italian designer brand's other designs.

In a head-turning move, the "Anything's Possible" actor wore a knee-length slouchy metallic silver dress featuring midi-length sleeves and a plunging neckline. Porter's dress was cinched with help from a hefty leather belt with a zip-up closure that worked similarly to corsetry, defining the thespian's silhouette. On the accessories front, Porter toted a large black leather Chanel bag accompanied by shiny silver and leather jewelry and aviator glasses with thin silver frames.

Where shoes are concerned, Porter frequently opts for dramatic and edgy styles. The "Like A Boss" actor regularly wears heeled sandals, boots and pumps from brands including Louboutin, Orel Brodt and Jimmy Choo. He's also been seen on and off the red carpet in Gucci loafers and Rick Owens platform boots. Outside of his sleek shoe wardrobe, Porter previously collaborated with Choo on a size-extended capsule collection in 2021.

Atlanta's first Global Black Pride celebration kicked off on Tuesday and will run through Labor Day weekend as a celebration international celebration of the Black LGBTQ+ community and a collaboration with Atlanta Black Pride Weekend. Around 30,000 guests are expect to attend throughout the week including including celebrities like Porter, Niecy Nash-Betts and Keke Palmer.
