OVATION ENTERTAINMENT CENTER STEP CLOSER TO REALITY IN OSCEOLA COUNTY

Osceola County Commissioners have just approved an agreement to move forward on the Ovation project with Meyers Group Partners.

The project is set to take an abandoned hotel on U.S. 192, near Interstate 4 and Disney, and turn it into an entertainment center.

Renderings and details on the company’s website show the plans for the property include more than 800,000 square feet of retail, entertainment and restaurant options and a four-star, 500-room hotel on the nearly 80 acres of land.

The site could also include conference space, live music venues and other attractions.

The new agreement says the company and the county agree that it would be best to demolish the existing buildings and redevelop the land in a way that boosts tourism.

According to county documents, the property has been abandoned for more than 10 years and has racked up several code violations.

Though ‘no trespassing’ signs are up out front, WESH 2 crews saw several people walking onto the property.

The documents add the fire department has responded to more than 30 calls there in the last decade.

The sheriff’s office has responded to more than 150 calls in the last three years.
