SUPERMAN & LOIS' FINAL SEASON GETS NEW PREMIERE DATE ON THE CW

The wait for Superman & Lois Season 4 has just been shortened. The CW has rearranged its fall schedule, moving the hotly-anticipated final season of the superhero drama series from Thursday nights to Monday evenings.

Per Deadline, Superman & Lois Season 4 will debut with a two-hour premiere on Monday, Oct. 7, on The CW. The Arrowverse-adjacent series was originally scheduled to premiere on Thursday, Oct. 17. The move is believed to be in response to ABC creating a two-hour game show block on Mondays with fan-favorites Celebrity Wheel of Fortune and Press Your Luck, which would have gone head-to-head with The CW's upcoming game shows Scrabble and Trivial Pursuit. The CW's game shows will now air on Thursdays, beginning Oct. 3.

'What Happens Next?': Superman & Lois EPs Tease How They Will Wrap Up Departing Characters' Storylines

Despite budget cuts, Superman and Lois' EPs explain how the show still found a way to wrap up all the departing characters' storylines.

Developed by Todd Helbing and Greg Berlanti, Superman & Lois is an Arrowverse-adjacent series following Clark Kent/Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) and Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch) as they return to Smallville with their twin sons, Jonathan (Michael Bishop) and Jordan Kent (Alex Garfin). The first three seasons of the DC show have been well-received by both critics and fans, with many praising the performances and visual effects.

Season 3 of Superman & Lois concluded with the Man of Steel locked in combat with the infamous DC villain Doomsday, whom Lex Luthor (Michael Cudlitz) created by repeatedly experimenting on and killing Superman's Bizarro counterpart. The fight's aftermath will continue into season 4, with The CW releasing a sneak peek of the duo battling through space and a new trailer laying the groundwork for the show's adaptation of the beloved "The Death of Superman" storyline from the comics.

The Librarians: The Next Chapter Moves to TNT

When The CW first unveiled its fall schedule, Superman & Lois was paired with The Librarians: The Next Chapter, a sequel spinoff series of TNT's well-received The Librarians, itself a continuation of a trilogy of TV movies under The Librarian franchise. However, earlier this month, The CW pulled The Next Chapter from its schedule and replaced it with the eight-part docuseries The Wranglers, which explores the world of professional cowboys and cowgirls on a Montana dude ranch. It's worth noting that The Wranglers has followed Superman & Lois over to Monday and will premiere on Oct. 14 after a new episode of the DC superhero series.

Showrunner Todd Helbing clarifies how an Arrowverse mainstay was brought back for Superman & Lois while teasing more cameos "than any other season."

As for The Librarians: The Next Chapter, TNT has acquired the fantasy series, which is expected to premiere in 2025. As part of the move, a second season of The Next Chapter has been ordered. The first season, consisting of 12 episodes, has already been shot and is in post-production.

The Next Chapter follows "a Librarian from the past, who time-traveled to the present, and now finds himself stuck here. When he returns to his castle, which is now a museum, he inadvertently releases magic across the continent. He is given a new team to help him clean up the mess he made, forming a new team of Librarians," reads the official synopsis. Callum McGowan stars as Vikram Chamberlin, the Librarian from the year 1847 who breaks the rules and accidentally transports himself to present-day Central Europe, while Olivia Morris, Bluey Robinson, Caroline Loncq, and Jessica Green round out the main cast.
